……5 out of 7 births I supported as a doula this year (2025) so far were unmedicated/without an epidural for pain relief. Why does someone have a goal of not using an epidural for birth?
Megan’s Birth Story
(I) woke up yesterday with some contractions and baby feeling low. Got the girls ready and dropped off. By 9am I called my husband to come home as contractions were consistently 10mins apart.
Why VBAC?
Why VBAC? VBAC is generally a safe option for most people. Just in any birth choice- there are pro’s and con’s that might impact your unique circumstances, but overall it is a very safe option. It is noted that 60-80% of VBAC opportunities are successful in the general US. However, in 2021, the March of Dimes reported that the VBAC rate was 14.2%.
World Doula Week 2023
As we wrap up this years World Doula Week, I am quietly celebrating these last 13.5 years as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. Reminiscing about the 350+ families that I have interacted with, and supported through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
